What is physical therapy?
Physical therapy is a healthcare discipline that offers a non-pharmacological therapeutic alternative for diagnosing, preventing, and treating symptoms of multiple acute and chronic conditions using scientifically proven techniques. Its goal is to preserve, restore, and improve people's health in order to enhance their quality of life and well-being.
Physical therapists are trained at the university level and are experts in injury diagnosis, injury treatment, exercise prescription, injury prevention, rehabilitation, and many other areas related to sports, health, and fitness.
What do I need to bring?¿Qué necesito llevar?
Be prepared to provide your previous medical or surgical history, scans or MRIs, and a list of medications. It may also be helpful to bring shorts and a T-shirt. If you have them and they are relevant, bring reports. The functional tests performed by the physical therapist are as important as imaging tests in assessing the functional status of the affected limb. If you do not have an imaging diagnosis, don't worry; the professional will be able to offer you accurate guidance on the status of your problem.
How many visits will I need?
The number of treatments will vary depending on the problem and the individual. After a complete evaluation, the physical therapist will discuss your treatment plan for the rehabilitation process.
As an example, we could mention a first-degree sprain, which could be completely resolved with a single session, or a second-degree sprain, whose treatment could extend up to twenty-one days.
What should I wear to my appointment?
If we're treating your feet, you won't need to undress. However, if we're treating your spine, you will need to, so it's recommended to wear comfortable, discreet underwear, or even a pair of shorts. For women, it's always best to wear a bra that can be easily unhooked in the back when treating the spine.

Do I need a referral to a doctor?
No, physical therapists can evaluate and treat patients without a referral. However, most health insurers require a referral before authorizing coverage; some only require a phone call.
.
The length of treatment depends on your diagnosis, the severity of your limitations, your medical history, and other factors. Reassessments will be conducted to evaluate your progress, and your therapist will communicate with your physician to help you achieve your therapy goals.

At Eco Physiotherapy, we pride ourselves on always providing a comprehensive approach to all pathologies, but our focus is on the spine, specifically noninvasive techniques for herniated disc resorption. It's never about the pathology itself, but about the patient. Their alignment, postural stability, degree of inflammation, and the underlying cause of the pathology will determine the methodology used. Our team has earned advanced certifications in orthopedics, sports, manual therapy, and a multitude of other courses for the neurological approach to patient care.
We will check with your health insurance provider to see if outpatient physical therapy services are covered by your plan. We recommend confirming your insurance coverage. Your insurance will often accept billing for services provided there is a prior prescription from your doctor.
